In the Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy, J. Barton Payne (1973) estimates that 8,352 verses of the Bible were predictive material at the time they were written. This amounts to about 27 per cent of all Scripture. (pp 674-675).
A scholar named Stephen Langton added the chapter division in AD1228. Robert Stephenus suggested the verse divisions in AD1560 (Jensen, 1969). Verse and chapter divisions in the Bible are modern innovations, they are created to help us find passages, not to interpret them.
